GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Graduate students may apply for financial aid in the form of scholarships, fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. Students who have either a teaching or a research assistantship of 40% time or more pay in-state tuition (GRA) or no tuition (GTA). Graduates students with less than 40% appointment are granted a prorated tuition with reduction (see the KU Timetable for details). Fellowships and scholarships are available for outstanding students. Information on financial support for the current year is available in the Departmental office. Applications for scholarships, fellowships or assistantships should be submitted to the Department prior to the academic year for which the appointment is desired. Applications for teaching assistantships should be submitted prior to March 1 for the Fall semester and October 1 for the Spring semester.
Most scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial support require the student to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average. This grade point average is typically computed with plan of study course work grades, and excludes independent study (e.g. Thesis or Dissertation) credit.
