ENGINEERING EXPO
Each February the KU School of Engineering turns
Learned and Eaton Halls into an engineering festival and exhibit for a Friday
and Saturday. Since the mid 1900's, KU has hosted an Engineering
Expo. What started as a small gathering of KU students sharing their ideas
has become a chance for all K-12 students and the community to share our interests
and to be exposed to the challenging and fascinating professional life that
await an engineering student.
Entirely student-run, the Expo serves as a fun
and important way to inspire the next generation of engineers. To this end,
each Expo includes two buildings full of hands-on exhibits, speakers, special
guests, and annual design competitions.
Besides several exhibits and tours of research
laboratories, KU Mechanical Engineering is host to the Rube Goldberg design contest. Teams from K-12 schools across the region attempt to design
the most creative "Rube Goldberg styled" machine among all of the
competitors. The contest is sponsored and judged by the Student ASME (American
Society of Mechanical Engineers) Chapter of KU Mechanical Engineering. Multiple
teams from the same school can enter. Registration of teams is requested previous
to the event.
All individuals are invited and encouraged to
attend the KU Engineering Expo; school groups are encouraged to register previous
to attendance. All teams for design contests are also encouraged to register
previous to attendance. Registration assures that all parking and personnel
needs are met.

Engineering Expo website and register to attend!
